And the popular choice award goes to …
Congratulations to Helen McPherson whose entry, entitled ‘ Conservators Torture Rack’, won the popular choice award. Her prize consisted of a Crumpler bag, Sketch books, an ACMI voucher and a voucher from Artisan Books.
Originally there were to be 2 highly commended public choice certificates awarded to runners up, but due to votes being tied, 5 artists were commended. Well done Nancy Johnson, Julian Di Martino, Vivienne Tate, Kate Carey Paters and Nikki D’Emden. Each of these artists received a certificate of hand made paper by papermaker & artist Marianne Little, who curated the show.
The exhibition was a great success, with over 40 artists exhibiting. The artists who took on the challenge to create an artwork inspired by a book in a bag were inventive in their interpretations of the exhibition brief and in their conceptualisation, making for a very exciting show.
69 Smith St Gallery would like to extend their thanks to the sponsors; Crumpler, Artisan Books, Jenny Gibson & Liz Zanella.
